The following is an overview of the process of working with me to establish your presence online. This article does not cover using an online tool, check a future article for that information.
The first thing most of my clients think of is, “is this going to be a complicated, long process?” Which, is a fair question. The web can be a complicated and difficult place to work with. But, my job is to make getting a website as easy as possible. If you are working with any type of professional, and they have not made the experience seamless for you: they are not doing their job. Every project is different, and there is no specific ‘make a website’ time frame but, I stick to these principles to make the process as smooth as possible for my clients:
Trim Interactions Down To Their Essential Parts
Any of my clients will tell you, I am not big on chit-chat. Your time is important, and so is mine. Before a phone call, I make a list of points that I want to address and strictly stick to that list. That way, I can immediately get everything I need in as much detail as I need, and you can go back to your day. Nothing abstract, and no long pauses where we’re looking for something to contribute. Every moment of a call is devoted to getting something valuable that I can put into your website, or something useful for your business moving forward.
This principle applies to my emails also. I often utilize email to get multiple concerns out of the way in one message. You can address them when your schedule allows it, instead of having to stop when I need something. Emails, much like phone calls, are outlined in a quick list that gets directly to the point:
- This thing
- That Thing
- The other one too
No time wasted. That way I can get everything I need and spend any saved time on your website.
Make Decisions On My Own
I am not the typical hired professional — pestering my clients for their opinions all day. I was hired to apply my experience and knowledge to get you the best results. With all of the relevant information I need from consultations, I move forward with the project and present what I think is best to you. From there we take any criticisms you may have and further improve your website.
Iterating off of my solutions gets the ball rolling and gives a better starting ground than a blank screen. In my experience, it is much easier for you to address your concerns once the standard has been set.
Personally Manage Or Walk Through Every Step
There are a few steps between wanting a website and getting one online. A few of which can be daunting. Many other Web Designers have their clients go out and buy a domain name, manage their own hosting, and any other steps along the way. This is not the route I take. With my clients, I directly manage every step that I can. I personally sit with them to go through anything where they may need a direct role. As a professional, I know which routes are the best to take, and bringing you through those is all included in the project.
As long as this section could be, outlining everything that may come up, it is very simple: If it is involved with your website, I will either manage it, or help you get going in the right direction.
If my process here sounds beneficial to your business, feel free to get in touch with me to see if your business would be a good fit. Or, email me directly at [email protected] to discuss the project you have in mind.
