Top Social Media Picks 2017

I’m sure that I don’t have to explain the importance of social media for your business to you. Here, I’m going to go over my top picks for social media sites that you should be using.

Yelp

Good for: Restaurants, stores, and service based businesses.
Yelp
Yelp is useful for a few reasons. For starters, your competition may not be there yet. And — much like Google — Yelp is another place people are going to find the things they want. This way, you’re leveraging Yelp’s authority with Google for searches in your market. On top of that, you’re also leveraging their growing audience.
In short: When someone Googles what you do, they find Yelp. When someone searches Yelp for what you do, they find you. This is a great tactic for getting more people aware of and interested in your business.

Groupon

Good for: Most businesses except for business-to-business
Groupon
Customers are always looking for the best deal. I’m sure that I don’t have to explain competitive pricing to you. Because of this, Groupon is your foot in the door. Their audience of young, eager users is growing every day. It is a great way to get a surge of customers and increase awareness of your business.
Keep in mind: most of their users are young and trendy, which may or may not fit well with your branding.

Google +

Good for: Any business
Google
If you could only be on one social media site, it would have to be Google +. Not to say that it is the most popular, or fastest growing. No, Google + is useful for search results — especially if paired with Google My Business. With a proper business listing, you are at the very top of search results for your business name. This includes contact information, pictures of your business, and a map for navigation.
If enabled, it even includes reviews and a link to your website. At a glance, a customer has all the information they need to get involved with your business.

Facebook

Good for: Any business
Facebook
So far, it seems like I’ve only been focusing on newer social media websites. Then, why include Facebook? In short: everyone is there. Catching the new, growing audience and showing up in search results is great. But, nothing beats interacting with your customers. Engaging with your audience is the simplest way to get more people looking at your business. Being more personable makes your customers more likely to recommend you. Their activity shows up for their friends to see and makes them more familiar with your business. The benefits are astounding when applied the right way.
