Getting a website can seem like a big, complicated task with an infinite number of moving parts. Even choosing someone to work with can get complicated with so many options and industry terms out there. So, what should you expect when you decide to work with me to get a new website or update your existing one? Below I’ll outline the entire process from start to finish so there are no surprises for you.
So, Where Do We Start?
The first thing we’ll do is sit down for approximately twenty minutes for an interview. This will either be in person or on the phone if you’re not in the Myrtle Beach area or would prefer to save a little time. You won’t need to bring any extra material or prepare at all. They will all be questions you already know the answers to. This is to understand your business, your customers, the features you need, and how I can get the best results for you. This interview is also to determine if we’re a good fit together. Plainly: if I don’t think that I can give you the best results that you can get, I will happily refer you to someone that I think can.
From there, once we’ve determined that we’re a good fit for each other, I’ll send you a list of things that I need from you.
What Do You Need From Me?
To start, I will send you my contract. My contract is in plain English and is available online for you to read right now if you want to. Once that is squared away, I will send you an invoice for the first half of the project. From there, you don’t pay anything until the website is online and you are entirely satisfied.
In your inbox above that, you’ll find a list of materials I need to design your website. This usually includes logos, pictures, testimonies, and any other materials you need online.
What Next?
Once everything above is squared away, I get to work. You’re free to focus on what’s important to your business. Let me take care of researching your customers and competition, designing mockups, and testing website design ideas for you. You won’t have to do anything until I’m ready to show you the design I’ve come up with.
It usually takes a few days to get a design ready for you after I get all of the materials I need.
When I have a design that I’m ready to show you, we will sit down again (in person or on the phone) for another ten minutes to discuss what I’ve come up with. Here, you can be as mean as you want! We’re going to tweak this until it looks exactly how you want. Let me be clear: we do not move forward until you are happy with the design. Even if this means totally scrapping what I have and starting over.
When you are happy with the design, I move on to adding functionality and getting it ready to go online. Again, this normally takes a few days, resulting in the project as a whole lasting about a week.
How Do We Get The Website Online When It’s ready?
As I work, I will have a full working demo up at a private link that you can view. Once I’m done, we can go through together and determine if everything is to your liking. If it is, I can sit down and buy the domain name with you and put the site online with my hosting. Or, if you already have those things, I’ll login and get the site up from there.
After everything is online and you are completely satisfied with your new website, I’ll send you the invoice for the final payment.
What Happens After The Website Is Online?
I always want my clients to think of me as their go-to web guy. Any questions or concerns, you’re always free to email or call me to settle it as quickly as possible. I pride myself on making things clear and easy to understand so you can move forward quickly with what you need. And, if you’re using my hosting, getting edits done to your website is as simple as sending me a text. I always get them up within 24 hours.
So, if you’re looking for a new website or to update your existing one and this sounds appealing to you, I encourage you to fill out my contact form, or give me a call at (910) 384-0774. I would love to get your brand online and in front of more people.
